In these lectures, Dr. Tim talks about what holds the many writings of the Bible all together, including what are the dominant themes. He summarizes the key theological images of God, the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. In the second session, he addresses such issues as how human beings are like God, yet different; the relationship of the Old Testament to the New; and, how the biblical writers expect readers to respond to the Bible.

"Unity Amid Diversity in the New Testament." In this lecture, Dr. Tim talks about what holds the many writings of the Bible together and their significance for faith today: The powerful Word of God, covenant relationship with God, salvation history, and salvation itself. Instead of rehashing the typical subjects normally presented in systematic theology, he focuses on a few challenging, yet vitally important, issues raised by seeking to understand the main theological messages of the Bible. These issues include: 1) how are human beings are like God, yet different,? 2) how do the New Testament concepts of faith, hope, and salvation differ from those found in the Old Testament? and, 3) how did the biblical writers intend for readers to respond to their chief messages, i.e., the love of God the Father, the good news of Jesus Christ, and the active presence of God today through the working of the Holy Spirit? Dr. Tim also shares some of his own journey of faith and how his answers to some of these questions have made a significant difference in his own relationship with God and faith. In the unabridged version (also available on this YouTube channel), you can find more explanations and a complete recording of the Q&A session with students after the completion of the lectures.
